REGE 5 DEC 00
Government Civil Hospital,
HongKong, 17th.October, 1900.
I have the honour to inform you that
Wardmaster Abbott has come off the sick list to-day and pro-
ceeded to take charge at Kennedy Town Hospital.
In connection with the suspension of Mr
Bagg may I bring forward the claims of Acting Wardmaster Tong
Po to be appointed Wardmaster in the Medical Department. He
has had over 14 years service as Ward boy during which time
he has worked very satisfactorily. He has acted twice as Ward-
master at the main Hospital and at the Lunatic Asylum; as well
as Senior boy at Kennedy Town Hospital during plague time.
He both reads and writes English and is a man of finephysique.
I am of opinion that he would with a very little training
soon make as good a wardmaster as Wong Hing who has been ▼ard -
master for a number of years.
He would be appointed on the same terms
as Wardmaster Wong Hing viz;-$240(from $240 to $408 by $24
yearly).
I am sure that this promotion would meet
with the Principal Civil Medical Officer's approval.
I have etc.,
(sa) J.Bell.
