sir,

Government House,

HongKong, 26th.October, 1900.

With reference to my despatch No.397 of

the 31st.August, last I have the honour to inform you that I

have found it necessary, under the following circumstances, to

suspend WardmasterG.J.Bagg from the exercise of his duties

with a view to dismissal from the service.

2. Mr.Bagg was selected by you in June last

to fill the post of Wardmaster at Kennedy Town Hospital which

had been rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr.J.T.Course.

I was informed of your selection of Mr.

r. Baggin n your despatch

No.205 of the 27th.June,

3. On Mr.Bagg's arrival in the Colony it was

necessary, in accordance with paragraph 3 of that despatch, to

give him a formal letter of appointment. Before this was done,

however, the Acting Principal Civil Medical Officer requested

that Mr.Bagg might be appointed as Wardmaster to the Govern-

Medical

ment Department instead of to a special post. Dr. Bell's rea-

A

son for this was that Mr.Bagg's services might thereby be

utilised when necessary in Government Hospitalother than

Kennedy
