Lighthouses.
The Cheung Chau Channel Light is a small beacon
to mark a dangerous rock in the Channel which was former-
ly maintained by the Chinese Authorities.
The provision of a staff for Waglan
Island Lighthouse has been reported in despatch No.3%
- of the 9th. August, last.

Observatory.

The increase to the pay of the 2nd. Computer in
the Observatory is due to the fact that it was found in-
possible to engage the services of a competent officer
at less than $50 a month.

Bobanical and Afforestation Department.
The new scale of pay for the clerk and Interpreter
was decided upon with a view to obtaining the services of
better men than had hitherto applied.
The pay or the Assistant Clerk has
been re-adjusted as it was found impossible to get a comm
peteal
