An Ordinance to further amend the Raw Opium
Ordinance, 1887.
Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Logislative Council thereof, a follows:-
1. This Bill may be cited as The Raw Opium Amend- Short title ment Ordinance, 1893, and it shall be roud and construed an contrac as one Ordinance with Ordinances 22 of 1887 and 22 of tlaa, 1891.

"No person except the Opium Farmer shall have any (See 21 of
loose opium other than samples not exceeding two 1991, v. 10.) taels in his possession or under his custody or cou- trol, and the Opium Farmer shall not have any loose opium in his possession or under his custody or con. trol except in an opium boiling establishment which has been approved of by the Governor-in-Council."
3. Section 9 of Ordinance 22 of 1887 is hereby amended Storing of by inserting at the end of that section the following addi- opian in tional paragraph, namely :-

on importa- store such opium in a warehouse licensed by the Government for such purpose; and such warehouse shall be under the control of the Superintendent, and such warehouse shall be opened only in the presence of the Superintendent or his Deputy, and no opium shall be taken out of such warehouse except in the presence of the Superintendent or his Deputy, and no opium shall be removed from such warehouse except in accordance with the provisiona of section 4 of this Ordinance and section 11 of the Raw Opium Ordinance, 1887.
4. Section 10 of Ordinance 22 of 1887 is hereby amended Export of so as to read as follows:-

chests aball, before doing so, send to the Superin- tendent a requisition in the form of Schedule C. fur- nishing the particulars therein required, wherenpon the Superintendent shall graut an export permit in the form of Schedule D. anthorizing the said opium to be exported. Such person shall cause such permit to be exhibited to the Opium Farmer or his agent, and such permit shall be signed by him or his agent, and shall not be used or acted upon until it is so signed.
Moreover, every person moving opium for exportation in chests shall, before so moving it, pay to the Superin- tendent for the use of the Chinese Government Tarif duty and li-kin mounting to 110 Thels per chest.
In the case of opinm pat on board a vessel for export, the master of such vessel shall furnish the Superintendent with a receipt for such opinn, and such receipt shall cou- tain full partientars of the mark, number, contents, weight, name of the shipper, name of the consignee, name of the vessel, port of destination, and the date of receipt on board,
5. The following section shall be inserted in Ordinance Master of 22 of 1887 after section 11, and shall be numbered and vessel to re- lettered 11a

The master of any ship, which arrives in the waters of this Colony with any opium on board, shall be bound, whether such opium is consigned to this Colony or to some other port, to report parti- eniars of the mark, number, contents, weight, namo of the shipper, name of the consignes, and port of destination of such opium to the Superinten-leut and, in the event of such master failing so to report, he shall be liable to the payment of a fiao not ex- ceeding five hundred dollars and in default of pay- ment of such fine to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months with or without hard labour, and such opium may be forfeitel.
6. Section 12 of Ordinance 22 of 1887 is hereby repealed. Bepaal,
