£. I attach a plan of the propos-
ed dock yard extension with the course of the Nullah which
in time or flood carries down a considerable quantity of
material from the hill side.
On the 5th.July a represent-
ation "as made by the owners of property from Murrey Pier
to the LongKong Club, running west from Murray pier, pro-
testing against the alleged intention to divert the Nul-
leh from its present position to a point close to Murray
pier, as the silt would render the pray in front of their
premises unr pproachable for vessels. After taking the
opinion of the Director of Public Works, the At orney Orn-
eral and the Lend officer, the letter of the 9th. August
Tas drafted by the Attorney General and sent, to which
the reply of the 16th.August was received.

As the outcome of the cor-
respondence was the intimation in the letter of the 3rd. September that the matter would be referred to the Admir- elty I think it desirable that you should be placed in
possession of the facts of the case.
