In reply to your despatch No.259
of the 1st.ultimo I have the honour to inform you that I
concur with the opinion which you have formed on recon-
sidering the question of the salary of Mr. Chatham, assist- ant Director of Public Works, and see no objection to the salary of the post being fixed at $4800 rising by trien-
nial increments of $300 to $5400.
2: I shall accordingly insert the sum of $5100 in the Estimates for next year, thus allow- ing Mr.Chatham to draw his first increment from the 1st.
of January next.
