With reference to the letter from this
department of the 24th ultimo respecting the
Military Contribution of Hong Kong, I
directed by the Secretary of State for the
Colonies to transmit to you for the con-
sideration of the Marquess of Landowne a.gop.
of a despatch from the Governor of HongKong
relative to the proposed exchange of certain
Military Lams in the Colony. I ar to rec
quest that the map, accompanying that des¬¿
patch, which is forwarded in original, may
eventually be returned to this department.

I am to ask you to inform Lord Lansdowr
that the Secretary of State agrees to the
suggestion contained in your letter of the
16th ultimo (Hong Kong 5/389) that land al-
