Sir,

I have the honour to acknow-

ledge the receipt of your despatch No.958 of the 16th.

July, in which your approve of the transfer of Mr.Boulton

to the fixed establishment with full pension rights

from thedate of his first appointment.

In reply to peragraph 5 of your despatch I have to state that Mr. Mudie, having been ap-

pointed on October 1st.1889 at a salary of $275 a month

was entitled to the maximum of his new rate of salary

as from the 1st. January last. Owing to the fact of his being employed on the Praya Reclamation and consequent-

ly not paid out of the votes of the Public Works De-

partment, his mane was inadvertently omitted from the

schedule of officers receiving increases under your

despatch No.280 of 1809. The omission has since been

rectified locally, and I have to ask that you will cause

his name to beladded to the schedule.
