Sir,
I beg leave to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 26th.ultimo, (No.1302) adverting
to previous correspondence on the subject of the Can- adian Preferential Tariff, and enclosing copy of a des-
patch from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to-
gether with copy of Section 10 of the memorandum there-
in referred to.
While thanking the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the information thus convey-
ed, my Committee do not see that it brings this Colony much nearer to the desired privilege, and they therefore
now beg that His Excellency, the Governor will forward their request that iongKong be placed upon the list of
Colonies entitled to share in the benefits of the Pre-
ferential Tariff levied by the Dominion Government on
goods manufactured from local products.
