The salary of Senior Clerk should, I submit, rise from
$100 to at least $120 a month by increments: the se-
cond clerk should get atrast $80: the third, fourth, and
fifth clerks $50 each, atleast, and the Sixth $40.
This increase of staff is urgently needed, this office”,
. being at present the least efficient of the Post offices
in Shanghai and the far East.
