I have the honour to state for the inform-
ation of His Excellency the Governor that the consignment of
subsidiary coin by the S.S."Australia" from the Birmingham
Mint is lighter than those supplied before, from the Royal
Mint by 70 cents in one thousand dollars.
As this is a serious difference in the
eyes of the Chinese I suggest that the attention of the Co-
lonial Office be drawn to the matter.
