I have the honour to acknowledge the re-
ceipt of your despatch No.219 of the 6th.ultimo, stating the
advice of the Law Officers of the Crown on the subject of the
application of Harbour Regulations to a public vessel" of any
foreign state, with special reference to the detention of the
United States Transport "Tartar".
2. I have caused this advice to be duly com-
municated to the Harbour Authorities for their future gui-
dance in similar cases.
