With reference to your despatch No.227 of

10th.October, 1899, I have the honour to transmit for the signi- fication of Her Majesty's pleasure the following Ordinance

entitled:-

*An Ordinance to amend the Liquor Licences Ordinance

1898, and to repeal the Liquor Licences Amendment Ordi-

nance, 1899 No.20 of 1900.

2. The customary report by the Attorney-Ge-

neral is annexed.

The increases in fees for distilling,

public houses, grocers' and wholesale licences, and Chinese wine

and spirit shops were considered desirable owing to the ab-

sence of any duty on wines and Apirits in this Colony. The

increases are estimated to produce an increase in re- venue of $ 45,000 cm 1907.
