Sir,
I have the honour to transmit for your
consideration the enclosed memorial from Mr.C.H.Gale, Senior
glosure July 1900. dupiticate

Assistant Engineer in the Public Works Department, applying
for the post of Third Executive Engineer, soon to be rendered
vacant by the departure of Mr.Crook for Gibraltar.
2. For this vacancy Mr.Ormsby recommends Mr.
Drury, and as Mr.Drury has been regarded as the senior of the
two officers in the Department, I concur in the recommendation.
3. In the event of your approving of Mr.
Drury's appointment and of the suggestion made in Major-Gene-
ral Gascoigne's despatch No.196 of the 5th. of May that Mr.
Mudie should be regarded as seconded to the Praya Reclamation
staff, I would recommend that Mr. Gale be appointed to the post
of Executive Engineer, thus bringing the Executive Engineers
for Public Works other than the Praya Reclamation up to the
