I have the honour to inform you that in

accordance with the request of the Naval Authorities, the ser-

vices of Misses Barr and Batchelor, Nursing Sisters at the Go-

vernment Civil Hospital, have been placed at their disposal

for the purpose of attending on the sick and wounded at Wei-

hai-wei.

2. These ladies left for Wei-hai-wei at the

end of last month and have been lent by this Government on

the understanding that their pay and allowances shall be de-

frayed by the Naval Authorities and that they shall be pro-

vided with free passages to and from the Colony. As their

services cannot well be spared from the Hospital for more

than about four months, the Commodore has been informed that

they should if possible be replaced at Wei-hai-wel before the

expiration of that period.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your Most Obedient Humble Servant,
