As the General has asked for a pronouncement
on this question I venture to submit that the same
rule should apply in the case, of the staff as in the
ordinary Civil Service & that the duty should be
performed without any extra expense to the public.
Should the General's A.D.C. be able to show that
through any omission to make an arrangement before
going on leave any extra work has been done as A.D.C.
to the 0.A.G. beyond that in substitution of similar
work performed as A.D.C. to the Major General
Commanding Troops, I shall be prepared to give
suitable remuneration to the A.D.C. I believe I am
right in saying that when the General goes on leave
he takes his A.D.C. with him if he so desires,
