5. The expenditure incurred in connection with
these Nurses and the amount of fees (which are paid into the
Treasury) earned by them, are shown in the enclosed statement.
6. It will be seen that the Nurses have been a
source of considerable expense which however is inevitable see-
ing that to cover their salaries alone, which are now at the rate of $70 a month each, they would have to he continuously employed, which with long hours and night work would entail an amount of labour which it would be physically impossible for
them to perform.
The fees have now been increased as follows;

The agreements of Nurses Robins and Milling- ton expire in June next year, and I understand that they are
not likely to renew their engagements in which case it will
be
