Enclosure.

Q

Sir,

530

Public Works Department,

HongKong, 13th. June, 1900.

In view of Colonial Extension in South Africa

and probable movement amongst Colonial Officers there ard elsewhere in consequence, I beg to ask that my name may be again favourably brought to the notice of the Colonial Office with a view to promotion.

I was first recommended and noted for trans- fer on promotion in 1896, but so far no opportunity seems to have offered.

In order that easy reference may be made to

my business training and qualifications, I enclose printed information in that connection besides brief references to

my duties under Government.

As you are aware I joined the service in 1891 (March) to take charge of accounts in the Public Works Department, but at the present time I have the immediate supervision of three Branches of this Department, viz; Clerical, Accounts and Stores, with a considerable Staff un- der me, and I shall be glad if your acquaintance with the

working of these Branches may enable you to recommend His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government to be

good enough to accede to my request.

The Honourable, R.D.Ormsby,

Director of Public Works.
