No 30
Enclosure.
Sir,
Treasury,
23003
18 JUL 00
6th. April, 1900.
485
With reference to Ordinance No.8 of 1885 I have
the bonour to report that on removing the weights and measures from the Stamp Vault, a few days ago, I discovered the following weights to be missing, viz:-
Kan. One and One-third lbs,
Tam
✩ One hundred and thirty three and one-third lbs. and 20, 30, 40, 50, 300, 400, and 700 taels.
There is a weight in store of 717 taels whicà perhaps was got instead of the last mentioned above.
I presume the only course in accordance with the Ordinance is to procure these weights and keep them in the Treasury.
I may add that the weights are in the same condition as when I took over the Treasury in 1995 and that Mr. Carvalho is inclined to believe that some years ago the missing weights might have been handed over to the Magistracy or the Police.
the Honourable
The Acting Colonial Secretary.
