The Captain Superintendent of Police is
ex-officio a member of the Sanitary Board and in June 1893
I was appointed Vice President of the Board.
I acted as President of the Board from
· November. 1893 to September 1894 during the absence on leave
of Mr.F.A.Cooper and again under similar circumstances in 1897.
At the present time. I am Acting as Colonial
Secretary and Registrar General.
I can thus claim to have presided over no less
than seven different Departments under this Government,
counting as separate Departments, the Fire Brigade and the
Gaol, which they were before their amalgamation under' me
with the Police Department.
Moreover my work as Captain Superintendent
of Police has brought me into such close touch with the
Magistracy that I may claim to be not unfamiliar with the
duties that a Magistrate has to discharge.
From the above, record it will be seen that
I have had exceptional opportunities of gaining experience
of the work of the Majority of the large Departments under
the dovernment of a Crown Colony.
