I have the honour to transmit for your
consideration the enclosed copies of letters from Mr.Tsang- Kit-Fan,4th.Clerk, and Mr.ChanPui, 5th.Clerk, in the Treasury
; asking that their claims for increased salaries may be con-
sidered in connecuion with the Estimates for next year.
The Colonial Treasurer has recommended

both these cases for the favourable consideration of the Government. He reports: that Mr.Tsang-Kit-Pan is a hard worker and trustworthy, and that Mr.Chan-Pui is an excellent worker and deserves every consideration.
3. At present the salary of each of these officers is $70 a month or $840 ayear. I recommend that
che salary of each be increased to $960 per annum and I have the honour to ask for your authority to include those sums in the Estimates for 1901.
