St. Paul's College,

87th. March, 1900.

To H.E. Sir Henry Blake, 0.C.M.G., Governor etc. etc.

sir,

I have the honour to address you on behalf of the

"Church Missionary Society", and to ask your favourable con-

sideration of an application made by that Society for a piece

of land near to Kowloon City.

The piece of land referred to lies to the South of

the Tan King Temple and opposite to the Church already arected

by the Church Missionary Society near the "Hill of the King

of the Sung" The area required is about 30,000 square feet.

The purpose for which it is required is in order to continue

and extend the "Rescue" work now being carried on by the

"Victoria Hoze" at Test Point, as it is considered that for

many reasons Kowloon is better suited for such work than West

Point. The building now occupied by the"Victoria Hoze" will

be used for other Educational work. As the work will be "Rescue"

work, admission to the Institution will be, as heretofore,

entirely irrespective of creed; though the work of education

will of course be on Church of England lines. It is hoped that

Your Excellency will grant a piece of land for this purpose,

at a rate to be fixed by the Surveyor General, without public

auction.

There is a precedent for a grant of land, under

these or similar conditions, in a grant made to the Basel

Mission
