I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your despatch No.66 of the 18th. of March, and to in-
form you that all the members of the Police of or above
the rank of Sergeant have accepted the new rates of pay
mentioned in your despatch on the condition of contribu-
ting to the Fidows and Orphans Pension Pund, with the
exception of Inspectors Hannah and Scott and Sergeants
O'Sullivan and Keen who are absent from the Colony on
leave to England.
The large majority of those concerned
having thus accepted, the mending Ordinance has been
introduced into the Legislative Council, and I shall be
obliged if you will cause the officers named to be in-
formed accordingly, and of the fact that their salaries
will be subject to deduction on behalf of the Fund from
the date of the passing of the Ordinance.
