Hon. Col. Secy.,
The only questions requiring reply are
contained in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 of the letter from Messrs. Webb
and Bell to the Crown Agents dated 9th. February."
I think the staircases and passages on
ground floor and entrance halls should have a dado of tiles, of a
height to be decided by the Architects, otherwise the walls to be
of ordinary plaster, painted.
The description of fittings for the
urinals, closets and lavatory basins may well be left to the
decision of the Architects. As the buildings are to be beated with
hot water pipes, I presume there will be little extra expense in-
volved in having a hot water as well or cold water tap to all
lavatory basins."
All metal work, inculding iron joists, all
brass furniture for doors and windows tc., tc., should be sent out
from England. All woodwork will be constructed locally of Teak.
None of these things will be required this
year.
