rights and privileges of the promoters in connection with

Tramways 1,2,3,4, and 5 but the company fell through for

want of Capital and no grant was ever made to it. I am

inclined to think from the terms of a letter addressed by

Wotton and Deacon to the Colonial Secretary that the

formal approval of the Government was however obtained for

such transfer. That letter is dated 26th. January, 1885.

.3. Assuming that no grant to anyone has ever

been made by the promoters in respect to Tramways

1,2,3,4,

and 5 then all the rights and privileges conferred by the

Ordinance on the promoters in respect of these lines still

remains in full force and effect. There is no limit of time

placed by the Ordinance, within which they were bound to

grant or transfer to any other person or Company, andthe

only limitations the Ordinance contains are to be found

in Sections 26 and 121. Section 121 puts an end to all

compulsory powers of purchase after the expiration of

three years from the coming into operation of the Ordinance
