6. If you are of opinion that the scheme pro-
posed by Mr.Ladds is likely to give good result, it was Sir Henry Blake's desire that you should be asked to authorise the provision on the Estimates for 1901 of a sum of $8,000 to cover the cost of Mr.Ladd's proposals.
