Sir,
I am directed by the: Governor to forward to
you the enclosed copy of a report concerning a piratical
attack, accompanied by murder and abduction, upon a
stean-launch owned and liceɖsed in this Colony, on the 1st.
instant at Chuk I in the West River, and to request you to
be good enough to bring the facts to the immeɣdiate
notice of the Viceroy, and to request him to take steps
for the arrest and punishment of the offenders.
His Excellency has already communicated with
Vice Admiral Sir E.Seymour with a view to action by the
British gunboats on the river also.
