It is not to be expected that the members
of the Club would incur the expense of building a Club house
and providing all the necessary accessories in boatslips and
other conveniences on property which they were only allowed
to occupy at the pleasure of the Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty.
It must be remembered that the existing site
of the Victoria Recreasion Club ir Colonial property granted for the purposes of the Club as long ago as 1872. The records
in the Land Office incontestably prove this fact, and the Club
has regularly pid retes into the Colonial Treasury in respect
of the Club premises. It is therefore but reasonable that in
exchange for the site which they enjoy et present they should
be granted another on equal terms is regaris temre.

afford to take part in the more expensive sports and recreations of the Colony. The necessity of the existence of the Club has
already been recognised and I feel sure that you will agree
Art with me that being so it should be accommodated in a site where
it will not be likely to be again dirturbed.

posed in Mr. Ormsby minute seems to me to offer a satisfactory solution of the question. It is entirely acceptable to the members of the Club, and the necessary extension of Murray
Pier and the construction of the ramp could be carried out at comparatively small cost by the Naval Authorities simaltaneously
with the work of their own reclamation. I have therefore to
strongly comment it to your favourable consideration and to ark that you rill urge it adoption upon the Lords Commissioners
of the Admiralty,
