Upon his arrival here Dr.Clark was appointed Medi-
cal Officer of Health, and shortly afterwards he was also ap-
pointed Sanitary Superintendent

In 1897 he was given the additional appointment of
Superintendent of Statistics to which a non-pensionable al-
lowance of $ 300 per annum was attached in the following year
(vide Officer Administering the Government's despatch No.291
of the 13th. October, 1898 paragraph 14).
Dr.Clark's emoluments thus compare as fol-
lows with those of the Assistant Surgeons :-
Dr.Lowson (appointed November 1889) 3840, 720
House allowance.
Dr.Bell (appointed June 1896) ₫ 3600, Free quarters.
Dr. Thomson (appointed January 1897) 3600, $ 720
House allowance.
The proposed new scale for these three
officers is 3600 rising to % 4200.
