I have the honour to address you on the subject
of the clerical staff of the Colonial Secretary's Office, and
to make certain recommendations regarding it.
For the past eighteen years two temporary clerks have been employed in the office, the present holders
of these posts being Mr. E.J.do Rozario who with 3 years ser- vice draws a salary of $480 per annum, and Mr. F. do Rozario who has 24 years service and $360 per annum,
As it has been found necessary to employ two temporary clerks for such a number of years, it is manifest that this clerical assistance will be permanently required, more especially in view of the reductions made in the Colo- nial Secretary's Department since 1891 by the abolition of the three appointments of Chief Clerk, Reference Clerk, and Clerk in charge of Stationery.
