With reference to your despatch, No.1 of the 4th January 1897 in which you appointed Corporal F. Holmes to be Hospital Warder in the Gaol Hospital, I have now the honour to inform you that Corporal Holmes has resigned his appointment at the termination of his three years engagement for the purpose of rejoining his Corps.

2. I have now the honour to request you to be so good as to cause a successor to Corporal Holmes to be selected and sent out to this Colony in order that the vacancy may be filled up with the least delay possible.

3. I enclose herewith the usual statement in duplicate of particulars of the office.
