2. I understand the tenting of the Circular Despatch in question (a copy of which is enclosed) have that the prevaluation of the furniture of Govt House during the Govt offen, No. 284 which is enjoined by the final words of Colonial Regulation is abandoned. The value of the furniture for one year is considered to be that of the previous year less a depreciation of five percent for fair wear and tear, and five percent on the value of any added during the year.
3. It is perhaps not absolutely necessary that the basis of a revaluation of the stock of the furniture should be adopted. In practice, it will satisfactorily be found that there should be a periodical revaluation, say once in every five years for the bedding and such other items that deteriorate quickly. (This does not include administering the Govt House furniture).
