Government House,
Hong Kong, 14 February, 1900.
Sir,
I have the honour to transmit for your consideration the enclosed copy of a letter from the Colonial Treasurer, together with a copy of the enclosure referred to therein, relating to the salaries of the Second Clerk and Assistant Clerks in the Treasury Department. Their present salaries were fixed in 1893 at $110 each.
2. As I find that the salaries of these officers are not equal to those which are usually received by Clerks in similar positions in other Departments of the Government, I recommend that Mr. Cunha and Mr. Lopes should each be granted an increase of $10 per mensem.
The Right Honourable
JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your Most Obedient,
Humble Servant,
Henry Arthur Blake
GOVERNOR, &c.
