February, 1900,
I have the honour to transmit for your
favourable consideration the enclosed copy of a letter from
Mr. P.H. de Rozario, First Clerk, in the Colonial Secretary's
Office, in which he applies for a small addition of $80 per
annum to his present salary, which will bring his total emoluments up to $2000. He now draws $1920, and enjoys no Exchange Compensation.
2. I have ascertained that so long as 1897,
my predecessor approved of Mr. Rozario's salary being fixed
at $2000, but owing to a presumption that a slightly smaller sum would facilitate monthly payments it was placed at $1920.
I have the honour to be,
The Right Honourable
JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.,
&c &c
Your most obedient
humble servant,
GOVERNOR &c.
