She thinks we need not press for the amendment of Section 7 of the Ordinance, on the understanding that only 1 police officer is employed for this purpose. I am inclined to think that we shall constantly need more than one inspector in the Registrar-General's. To got nothing, however, need be said on this last point, at present.

that in view of the explanation in this despatch, the S of S is prepared to leave section 7 of the Ordinance as it stands.
