I have the honour to most respectfully submit my application for the favourable consideration of His Excellency the Governor that owing to my increased duties in connection with the New Territory my emoluments may be increased from $1680.00 to $2000.00 per annum.
Since the retirement of Mr. Malsch from the service, I have conducted all land sales of Crown Land; in addition to this, I have carried out your instructions, and am still doing so, with regard to extra duties in the New Territory; and am at present engaged in going from village to village from Lau-U-Mun(?) to Lai-Chi-Kok with the Assessor in compiling a New Rent Roll.
Trusting that I have carried out these extra duties and in conjunction with my ordinary duties, to your satisfaction that will warrant you in recommending me to His Excellency to accede to my request.
