In addition to the above I should mention that Mr. Horspool drew $480 per annum as a personal allowance though he had at the time only 19 years service against Mr. Mackie's 28 and that he also drew $480 per annum as Assistant Superintendent in the Fire Brigade.
Under the proposed increase Constables today will receive only $89.48 per annum, and Mr. Mackie is much worse off than Mr. Horspool was. And yet the Colony has grown and Police work has increased enormously in volume and importance.
I have therefore to strongly urge a reconsideration of this matter.
