Man Ho-tsung, Master of the Tung Wing, No.1 Central Market Cattle Dealer and Butcher states: On the 6th of October, I had 30 head of Cattle, coming down the Lit Chau River. I have received information that when they got as far as Lan Pan Tau in the Ham Kwong Sz in the Ying Tak District, in the To Shiu Chau Prefecture, the junk in which they were was attacked by pirates, who took 15 head of good cattle. They first booked 21 head on shore and they then went on board the vessel to search, the boat sank and the nine cattle on the boat were drowned. The pirates picked out the best cattle, 13 in number, from the 21, leaving 8. The sailors got a boat and took the 8 to Canton, the pirates took off with the 13.
On the 6th of November I had 64 cattle on two boats, which were pirated a little below Lin Wan Tau at Tai Miu Hap in the Ying Tak District. The pirates took 26, selecting the best.
About a week ago I had 12 cattle coming down with others in 7 boats, the cattle in which amounted in all to some 300 head, from To Shing on the West River. I lost my 12. All the other cattle except mine were buffaloes, going to Canton. One boat escaped, being assisted by some fishing boats who fired on the pirates after it was already captured.
