In reply to your No.1557 of the 15th instant,
I have the honour to inform you that I have communicated
to the Viceroy a translation of the Police Report relative
to the piracy committed in Chinese waters, and that I
have suggested that His Excellency should strictly enjoin
upon the civil and military authorities concerned to use
every endeavour to trace and arrest the pirates.
