With reference to the 2nd paragraph of your
despatch No.251 of the 21st November, 1899,
I have the
honour to inform you that the mother of the deceased Ltr.

N.Gillies was informed of the death of her son by the
first mail after the late Inspector died.
2. I may add that I have given instructions that
in future when any public servant dies official intimation
must be given at once to the relatives of the Deceased,
