my application for four months' vacation leave and permission to retire at expiration of such leave, I have to thank H.E. The Governor for granting the same.

I would now

beg to refer to

my

service in this

Department - some fifteen years. with a view if possible granting few additional years to such service, and in support of this request I must beg to lay the following facts before your notice.

1st. In the year 1884 I entered into an agreement

with the Crown Agents for the Colonies for

a term of three years in this colony, the duties

of office being named viz:- Supervision (under control of the Harbour Surveyor General) of the constructions of certain Buildings - Victoria College, Central Market, new Gaol, Hospital Buildings and in fact to be engaged on all Building that might

be hereafter erected.
