You should present yourself to one of the Medical Advisers, whose names are given in the cornered letter for the purpose of being medically examined. The letter is to be detached and left with him and you will be required to pay a fee of one guinea. He will send his report to us.

If finally selected for the probationary appointment, you will be provided with a free passage to the Colony, on your signing the usual agreement with the Crown Agents for the Colonies, Downing Street, S.W.1 by which you will be bound to repay to the Colonial Government the cost of your passage in the event of your relinquishing the appointment within three years of the date of your arrival in the Colony for any other reason than mental or physical infirmity.

You will be entitled to half salary from the date of your embarkation from this country, and to full salary from the date of your arrival in the Colony.

In the event of your appointment being cancelled, you will not be entitled to any leave of absence or pay after the date of the letter by which the cancellation is notified to you, unless the Governor, subject to the approval of the Secretary of State, shall grant it on special grounds.

I am to request that you will inform me of the earliest date at which you will be prepared to leave for the Colony, in order that the necessary communications may be made to the Governor and to the Crown Agents.
