I am directed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23rd instant, enclosing certificates from your Doctor and Dentist, as desired, and to inform you that you have been passed as physically fit for service and that you have accordingly been selected for appointment as Junior Graduate Assistant Master, Queen's College Hongkong, on the terms communicated to you by the letter from this Department of the 2nd instant.

I am directed by His Secretary to inform you that it has been brought to his notice that August is a vacation month at Queen's College.
The Crown Agents for the Colonies have been instructed to take your passage by the first convenient Steamer sailing after the 20th proxime.
And I am to request you to inform me whether you will be prepared to sail at that time.

You should communicate with the Crown Agents, whose address is Downing Street, S.W., as to the agreement which you are required to sign with regard to the cost of your passage if you have not already done so.

You will receive a formal letter of appointment from the Governor when you arrive in the Colony.
