Mr. Robert Thomson- Police Constable Hong Kong!

Mr. R. Thomson states that he was a police constable in Hongkong for a period of eight years, during which time he enjoyed good health, except that about five years ago he had a slight attack of Intermittent fever from which he very soon recovered. For a month before being invalided home, he was in Hospital, suffering from an attack of, from what he believes to have been, Rheumatic Fever. During that time his temperature frequently reached 102° F and he experienced great pain in the right ankle and foot.

Examination

His family history is good. He is a strong healthy young man - Height 5ft 11's inches - Weight 131⁄2 stone. He is 36 years old. With the exception of the Intermittent and Rheumatic fevers above mentioned he has had no illness since childhood. His Lungs, Heart, Liver, Spleen, and Nervous System are all in good condition. His Kidneys are normal, no sugar, albumen, or blood being detected. His right Ankle on inspection is enlarged, the malleoli of both Tibia and Fibula are enlarged. Manipulation causes no pain, but there is considerable stiffness in the ankle joint, as well as in the Calcaneo-Cuboid, and Astragalo-Scaphoid articulations. There is also slight swelling over these joints. There is stiffness also in the phalangeal joint of the great toe. The stiffness has not, so far, yielded to treatment. In other respects he is healthy.
