The Secretary,

"General Post Office,"

Race 10 OCT 99

GENERAL POST OFFICE, LONDON.

18 October 1899.

Sir,

I am directed by the Postmaster General to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th instant, No. 25024/99, respecting the unsatisfactory nature of the arrangements attending the stay of the French Packets at Hong Kong, and to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that representations on the subject are being addressed to the French Post Office.

It is hoped that the French Authorities will see their way to adopting the more important, if not all of the improvements suggested with the view of lessening the difficulties under which the Hong Kong Post Office now labours.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

The Under Secretary of State,

COLONIAL OFFICE.
