I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 13th instant, enclosing a copy of a Memorandum by the Colonial Defence Committee, on the subject of the armament of Hong Kong Volunteer Corps.
In reply I am to state that the Marquis of Lansdowne approves of the Memorandum, and concurs in Mr. Chamberlain's suggestion to communicate copies to the Governor of the Colony.
