With reference to my letter of the 12th instant, I am directed by the Marquess of Salisbury to inform you that the Chinese Minister, at an interview with His Lordship on the 13th instant, renewed his request for the expulsion of Kang Yu Wei from Hongkong.
A copy of a despatch to Her Majesty's Minister at Peking recording what passed at the interview is inclosed.
Mr. Secretary Chamberlain will observe that Lord Salisbury informed Sir Chihchen Lo-fêng-luh that he would at once take steps to ascertain the opinion of the Governor of Hongkong on the matter.
