Here we have a British gunboat patrolling the West River evidently with a view to checking the prevalence of piracy.
? Is it worth while suggesting to the P.O. that the expense of this cruise be made the subject of a claim on the Chinese govt in accordance with the warning given to the Tsungli Yamen by Sir C. MacDonald in his note of the 18th July (last Enclosure to 10230)
