ALEXANDRIA,

May 31st, 1899.

I have the honour to draw your attention to the fact, that in consequence of the existence of plague at Hong Kong it was decided on 29th May to apply to arrivals from that port the règlement against plague. I beg also to inform you that in consequence of the existence in epidemic form of cholera at Kurachee, the Commission Permanente of the Board decided to draw the attention of the Medical Officers at Suez to the matter.

The plague regulations are in force against Kurachee. These regulations are much more severe than those against cholera, so that it was quite enough to warn our doctors at Suez to be on the outlook for possible cholera cases coming from Kurachee.

(signed)

I have, &c.,

Arthur Morrison.

B. Gould, Esq.,

Her Britannic Majesty's Consul General.
