Sir,

I am directed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the (R.ts.2878) 5th instant, and to inform
you that a further communication will be addressed to you as
soon as a report has been received from the Governor of Hong
Kong to whom the question of obtaining statistics relating to the outbreak of plague in that Colony has been referred.
